Representative Sport Pathways

The Pathway

Your School – It starts here. You qualify at your school swimming, cross country or athletics carnival, or you’re picked in a school team for a sport. Talk to your school’s sport organiser.

Bernera Zone – The best from each of our ten schools come together at zone carnivals and central venue days. Top performers are selected into Bernera Zone representative teams.

Sydney South West –  Bernera is one zone within the Sydney South West region. Zone athletes and teams progress to Sydney South West championships, where the region’s representatives are chosen.

NSW CHS – Sydney South West competes at NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) state championships against every other region in the government school system. CHS state teams are selected here.

NSW All Schools  – This is where the three school systems meet: government (CHS), Catholic (CCC) and independent (CIS) students compete for the title of state champion, and the best are selected into NSW teams.

School Sport Australia – The top. NSW teams compete against every other state and territory at the national School Sport Australia championships.
